If you want to reach the Ritten high plateau you can travel by car (Oberbozen is 18 km away from Bozen) or by cablecar. The lower terminal of the cablecar, situated in via Renon in the near of the railway station, is easily reachable on foot from the downtown or by bus (line n.1).
Arrived at the upper terminal of Oberbozen, you have to take the old-fashioned trolley, which will take you to the Wolfsgruben Lake, then to Lichtenstern and finally to Klobenstein. From here you have to follow the mark-way 1 (Rittnerhorn) till you cross the street joining Auna di Sopra-Rittnerhorn. You take the path 1A directed to the"Earthpiramyds" and following a brook and passing a group of houses, you reach the provincial street near by the "Sport Hotel Spögler". You go on, following an ancient way of "via crucis" (from which you can have a look on the "Earthpyramids") and crossing the Rioscuro bridge, till you reach the little hamlet of Maria Saal (where you can visit the little baroque church).
If you want to visit the Pyramids more nearly you have to descend a little way near the maso Hutsch.
To turn back to Overbozen you have to reach again the "Sport Hotel Spögler" then to cross Longomoos and Klobenstein, where you can take the trolley. You can also walk from Klobenstein to Oberbozen along a comfortable panoramic way, which takes about 1-1,30 hours.
